Two Mammoths Locked in Combat - Natural History in Nebraska
Fort Robinson has two outstanding museums. Through valuable artifacts and informative displays, the Fort Robinson Museum traces the fort’s history from the Indian Wars through the 1940s. Contact (308) 665-2919 or visit the Fort Robinson Museum Website.
The Trailside Museum of Natural History features the one-of-a kind “Clash of the Mammoths” exhibit, which displays the skeletal remains of two giant mammoths lying as they have since the Ice Age— tragically locked together in combat. Explore rare Nebraska fossils such as an ancient rhino, giant tortoise, mosasaur skull, full-standing mammoth, and more. Find souvenirs for the family in our gift and rock shops. Contact (308) 665-2929 or visit the Trailside Museum of Natural History Website.
