Cody Park Railroad Museum
The Cody Park Railroad Museum displays one of the largest steam locomotives ever built, the Union Pacific Challenger 3977. One of the 105 of these Overland locomotives the Union Pacific bought from the American Locomotive Company, today only two Challengers remain, the one on display in North Platte and one which functions as an excursion train. The Railroad Museum also exhibits the 1969 UP #6922 Worlds Largest Diesel Locomotive and railroad memorabilia housed in several railroad cars and a fuly restored rail depot. On display in North Platte's Memorial Park is the 1903 UP #480 Baldwin Steam Locomotive.
